Take Full Control of Your Fuel Card Security with Two-Factor Authentication

At MOL, we’re committed to helping you protect your fuel cards from misuse. That’s why we’re introducing a new, customizable two-factor authentication (2FA) feature - giving you more control over your card security settings.

Why It Matters

Fuel card fraud is a growing threat. The safe use of MOL fuel cards is in the best interest of both users and providers. Two-factor authentication adds an extra layer of protection by requiring a one-time SMS code before a transaction can be completed in selected regions.

What’s New?

Until now, MOL centrally managed which countries and service stations required 2FA.
From now on, you can define these restrictions yourself in the Online Card Center (OCC).
In the OCC, you can:

  • Select countries where your cards should be blocked by default.
  • Choose restriction levels:
    • Block the entire country, or
    • Block only unmanned stations (where available).
  • Exclude specific cards from restrictions if needed.

In the selected countries or networks, transactions will only be possible with 2FA via SMS, ensuring only authorized users can refuel.

Temporary Access for Drivers

In blocked countries, legitimate users (you or your drivers) can temporarily enable the card for 30 minutes using the 2FA service—allowing secure refueling when needed.

How to Activate the Service?

  • 1. Log in to the Online Card Center.
  • 2. Go to: „Customer → Two-Factor Authentication” - to activate the service, and for adding phone numbers for sms authentication (click here for the 2FA User Manual)
  • 3. Go to: „Customer → Two-Factor Authentication - Country Settings” - for setting your country preferences
